Cynthia Chestnut on Tuesday won Gainesville’s special runoff election for City Commission At-Large Seat B with 244 more votes than her competitor Matt Howland.

Tuesday's election result for Gainesville's City Commission At-Large Seat B means another round of voting lies ahead in January for city voters.

With a 50.1% majority not reached by one of the candidates, Cynthia Chestnut and Matt Howland will face off in a special runoff election on Jan. 25, 2022.

Howland began his career at 24 as a public school teacher at Westwood Middle School and was inspired to continue working in public service.

Ingle, a retired Uber driver, comes from the private sector workforce with a background in computer software and hardware engineering.
