Alachua County Wants A Voice In I-75 Task Force Plans

An Alachua County Commissioners Meeting was held Tuesday to approve a letter detailing what the County says should be addressed by the I-75 Relief Task Force.

The task force will make recommendations on what transit changes should be made from Tampa Bay to Northeast Florida.

The county's letter focused on improving existing routes as well as limiting environmental harm.

Jim Wood, state transportation development administrator for the Florida Department of Transportation, said the task force is considering all aspects of the situation.

"We absolutely are looking at the range of environmental, land use and economic issues," Wood said.

The next meeting for the I-75 Relief Task Force will be held in Alachua County on Feb.26.
