Former Gator swimmer Ryan Lochte defended his title and won his second World Championship while also setting a world record in the men’s 200-meter individual medley with a time of 1 minute, 54 seconds flat beating his previous record set in Rome in 2009. Lochte has two more races left in Shanghai, the 200-meter backstroke and 400-meter individual medley. He enters tomorrow night’s finals for the 200 backstroke with the best semifinal qualifying time int he field.
