GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Today is the last day for Gainesville residents to register to vote in the upcoming Gainesville Regional Utilities special election, which could return control of the municipal utility to the city.

Currently, GRU is overseen by a governor-appointed board. Election Day is set for Nov. 4.

The deadline to register in person or by mail has already passed, but voters can still register online here before the end of the day.
