A second candidate for the Alachua County Manager's position has withdrawn from the selection process.
Stockton Whitten from Brevard County sent an email to Alachua County Commissioners Monday saying he had chosen to stay in his current job there as deputy county manager.
The commission is still scheduled to meet Tuesday to discuss the search for a county manager.
Commissioner Robert "Hutch" Hutchinson says the commission will more than likely offer the position to its third choice, Randy Oliver, who is currently CEO of Oliver and Associates in Pensacola.
The top choice for the county manager job, James Bourey, from Greenville, South Carolina, pulled out from negotiations two weeks ago.
