The emergency center is equipped with 16 beds, toiletries and showers–all free of charge. The center is fully funded by donations from a partner church, Christ Central, and the center’s thrift store.

As Alachua County citizens debate the restrictions of certain books in the school system, the rub has shed light on the balance between protecting students and fostering a diverse community.

Sara Canton was one of those students who never experienced her senior high school prom. Now as a senior at the University of Florida, she decided to do something about it.

Thirty-six spellers from 33 different schools came together to compete in Alachua County’s annual spelling bee in hopes of moving to the regional bee in Jacksonville and becoming a nationally recognized speller in Washington D.C. The only homeschooled student to attend was crowned the winner and will advance to the next round.
