Gainesville police are coming to terms with having to sign the 287(g) agreement, which they have seemingly pushed back against. The agreement gives some law enforcement the power to act as Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

"I t's a requirement by the state that that has to be signed," said GPD Public Information Officer Art Forgey.

A Gainesville High School resource officer received a two-day suspension after failing to turn on his body camera while searching a student suspeted of having a gun and not immediatedly reporting the incident.
