Town officials say a total of $84,200 in grant funding from Alachua County Wild Spaces Public Places and the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program helped support the effort.

An idea will become a reality in late June, when a 442-seat restaurant, Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille, opens in Celebration Pointe in Gainesville.

The park is marketed by the City of Hawthorne, Weyerhaeuser, the Hawthorne Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce as a potential manufacturing, industrial or commercial site.
