Employment opportunities for recent college graduates increasing

Career Builder’s annual college job forecast reports employers are hiring more recent grads, with 46% of employers planning to hire recent college grads. The number is up 3% from 2009. The report also shows employers are offering higher starting salaries. Career Builder Career Advisor Allison Nawoj says the increase in entry-level jobs is a result of heightened employer confidence.

Employers are becoming more optimistic overall, and as a result they’re looking to bring in more entry-level workers to help build their workforce for the future. So as these companies are feeling a little bit more optimistic it’s encouraging that more of them are looking to bring on some younger talent,” Nawoj said.

The report says employers look for candidates with strong written and verbal communication as well as technical skills and project management.
