Flames engulfed one Ocala resident’s home on Monday and killed a dog inside.
Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a call at the home at 4023 Northeast 23rd Place, arriving at 4:11 p.m., according to a news release from the agency.
They found flames pouring out of the side windows and the roof of the garage. The homeowner stood outside holding a dog, and firefighters were told another dog was still inside.
As firefighters began to put out the flames, others searched for the dog, which was found inside the home dead.
By 4:39, the fire was under control, and firefighters remained there to make sure there were no unexpected hotspots and to help salvage personal items.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
