Gainesville woman attempts to run over officers

A routine traffic stop turned into a near disaster on Saturday night when police say the driver of the vehicle tried to run over two officers. The driver, 46 year-old, Tamara Lockley pulled into the neighborhood of Colony Park when she was stopped by an officer from the Gainesville Police Department before trying to run him over. Gainesville Police Department Spokeswoman, Tscharna Senn, says Lockley then attempted to run over a second officer who arrived on the scene.

“The suspect actually did place the officer in great fear of being struck by the vehicle. She then pulled forward, turned her car around and drove directly at a second officer, placing him in fear of being struck. He fled out of the path of her vehicle. She continued driving away and towards other officers before crashing into a residence,” she said.

Lockley was taken to Shands after the incident and is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault on Law Enforcement officers.
