The Nancy Renyhart Dementia Education Program, part of Marion County Hospice in Ocala and affiliate member of Empath Health since May 2023, is featured. This affiliation allows them to provide an integrated network of care from Ocala to Naples serving nearly 26,000 individuals in hospice care, home health, elder care and more. The Dementia Education Program provides valuable information to help those who care for loved ones with dementia as well as those with dementia. They will host a workshop with Teepa Snow on the best practices for developing verbal and nonverbal techniques to help improve communication. It will on February 20 from 8:30 a.n. to 4:30 p.m. at Circle Square Cultural Center in Ocala.
Executive Director Lanie Shirey, and nurse educators DJ Ryan and Liz Santini provide information on their services including Memory Cafés and the formation of a Code Response Team to help reduce the number of 911 calls to first responders and connect patients to the services they need.
