A number of people in attendance were concerned about new policies being implemented to tighten public comment periods.

Each year, Alachua county honors different veteran groups at the annual Veterans Day celebration. This year, the program put a special emphasis on honoring those who served in World War II and the Korean War.

The county ordinance will go into effect throughout the rest of Alachua County on Oct. 22.

The Chemours Company proposed a special permit in September to mine on 886 acres of land.
