Alachua County Sheriff announces arrests in recent bomb threats at Newberry schools

Updated, Friday at 4:45 a.m.: Alachua County Sheriff Clovis Watson Jr. announced Thursday the arrests of two people deputies say are connected to the recent bomb threats at Newberry High School and Oak View Middle School. Alachua County Public Schools Superintendent Carlee Simon released this statement after the arrests. Original story, Thursday at 5:03 p.m.:  Alachua County Sheriff Clovis Watson Jr. announced Thursday afternoon on Facebook that he expects arrests to be made regarding numerous false bomb threats made recently at Newberry High School and Oak View Middle School. "This is not a game. These are felonies and they will be handled as such," he wrote.
