Gainesville Police responded Sunday evening to a shooting in the Walmart parking lot in Butler Plaza.

Officers arrested Khalil Reed, 24, a fourth-year University of Florida student studying family, youth and community sciences, in connection with the shooting and a drug sale, according to a GPD press release. Officers responded to Jersey Mike’s Subs at 8:45 p.m. to a report of a 20-year-old male with several gunshot wounds.

Reed allegedly met with four men in the parking lot, located at 2900 SW 42nd St., for the sale of over two pounds of marijuana, according to the release.
