Gainesville And Alachua County Fund Project to Help Homeless

Gainesville and Alachua County are funding a project that is keeping the homeless off the streets. Grace Marketplace, formerly a jail, offers homeless individuals showers and meals throughout the day as well as mental health screenings. The shelter has already decreased the number of tent cities and people staying at Bo Diddley Community Plaza. According to shelter officials, about 80 percent of its funding comes from the city and county.
