Lubavitch-Chabad at the University of Florida honors 9/11 victims

9/11 & Judaism in Gainesville

UF, and the city of Gainesville, hosted multiple events on Tuesday to honor and remember the victims of September 11.

On campus, the Lubavitch-Chabad Jewish Student Center and the Lubavitch-Chabad Student Group hosted a "Good Deed Mitzvah Marathon."

Chani Goldman, who was in New York eleven years ago, was thankful for the event.

"I think a lot of students are looking for an outlook to remember the day in a positive way," Goldman said.

Volunteers in Turlington Plaza approached passers-by, urging them to do some good deed today. Participants then wrote down their deeds and put them on display.

"This (tragedy) is one of the things I'll remember for my whole life," Goldman said.

Goldman's children run around the display and enjoy the company in Turlington Plaza. Mitzvahs are placed.

"One good deed can change the world," Goldman said.
