Meadowbrook Golf Club Closes Because Of Flooding

Meadowbrook Golf Club, 3200 NW 98th St., remains closed because of flooding.

With water levels rising  75 feet up a fairway near Northwest 39th Avenue, covering two greens and 4 tee boxes, the golf club's owner Christopher Marcum was forced to close for business Monday.

In addition to heavy rainfall, Marcum attributes the flooding to a nearby retention pond.

"Its water apparently leads to one pond, then it comes to us, and then stops," Marcum said. "There's nowhere for it to go but onto us."

Accompanied by both wildlife and litter, the water has caused the club to lose a couple thousand dollars each day it is closed, Marcum said.

Despite contacting the public works department, the owner says he has yet to receive a straight answer from officials regarding the issue and may have to cancel two upcoming tournaments.
