UF student Hunter Jones speaks on his TikTok empire

One UF student represents the campus community on a national platform.

Social media app TikTok took the world by storm in 2020 and has continued to grow.

With so many people finding success on the app, it seems inevitable that many will personally know someone with audience on TikTok. In our area, that person is Hunter Jones, a junior majoring in finance at the University of Florida.

In a sit-down interview with WUFT’s Jacob Sedesse and Jameshia Carroll, Jones spoke about how he becomes his online persona and the work it takes to manage such a large platform.

Even though TikTok account where he plays fictional Alpha Delta Pi sorority president Brittany Diamond is his most successful outlet, he has much broader ambitions.

Jones says he has been striving for TikTok fame for some time, with previous accounts dedicated to following trends. Little did he know, he would soon become a trend of his own.

Jones says he loves TikTok, but that his end goal is to become a pop star. In fact, he has already released a few songs of his own.

Regardless of what career path he follows, his success story will always lead back to its UF roots.
