PALS, Rockey's host dueling piano event in Gainesville

TITLE HERe

Whether it's for a fun night out, to give back to the community or simply to join a cause, Rockey's Piano Bar will be raising money in association with PALS (Partners In Adolescent Life Support) to stop bullying in local schools.

The group will host its annual PALS Party at Rockey's Dueling Piano Bar, 112 S. Main St., Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

PALS counselor Joe Barrett said the event is a great way to show everyone what the organization is all about.

"What we hope for is to have a healthy community of young kids," Barrett said. "To have events like this come together, where we're able to showcase some of what we do and tell our stories... I would definitely say it completes a really important cycle."

With the economy suffering, organizations like PALS are the first to see budget cuts. PALS coordinator Susan Garcia said without fundraisers like Tuesday's, the program wouldn't exist.

"We don't have any other source of revenue. The grants have dried up. Our services are free to all children, so the only support we receive is from community fundraising events like this," Garcia said.
