48 hour film competition begins shooting tonight

Write, film and edit… all in 48 hours- it’s a challenge many budding filmmakers will undertake tonight. Santa Fe College is hosting a 2 day film competition and Media Professor Marc Shahboz says it will keep competitors on their toes.

“I will give them a topic, a line of dialogue and a prop they have to use during the film, and the topic is being chosen randomly at the event. So when I walk up on stage, basically I’m gunna shake my IPOD, I’m gunna look down and I’m gunna tell them what they got,” he says.

He expects up to 20 teams of high schoolers, college students and pro competitors and the winning films will be unveiled at a screening next Friday at 6:30 in the E Building Auditorium on campus. He says many departments have worked together to bring a more prominent film culture to Santa Fe, and they hope to continue more in the future.

The competition will kick off tonight in the E Building Auditorium at 7 PM.
