On Thursday afternoon the finance committee of UF's Board of Trustees approved a plan to authorize a minimum of 38 Million in budget cuts for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Trustees later heard from "Save UF! Spend the Reserves" advocates, but explained they were leery of tapping reserves in the face of such a large cut in state funding. The motion goes before the full Board on Friday. At the same time, UF is counting on Board of Governors approval of another 15% tuition hike, and the administration has warned further cuts may be necessary if the tuition hike is not approved.
