These remaining cats tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which made them difficult to place in private homes.  Nearly 700 cats were rescued from the Haven Acres Cat Sanctuary, and have been cared for by the Humane Society of the United States, Alachua County Animal Services, Alachua County Humane Society and The Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida.
