New I-75 construction aims to reduce traffic snarls

Traffic congestion on northbound I-75 at Newberry Road, exit 387, is expected to lighten up. The Florida Department of Transportation has lifted the truck restrictions and reduced the speed limit on northbound lanes. Construction is currently underway to add a second left and right turn lane onto Newberry Road. Semi-trucks are now allowed to use the left two lanes of I-75 northbound to help ease traffic flow. Project spokesperson Laurie Windham says the new lanes will accomodate more motorists exiting the interstate.
