With Florida's new permitless carry law in effect, police chiefs and sheriffs want to remind gun owners there are still limits to where you can have a gun.

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said in a Facebook post that concealed firearms are still not allowed in any law enforcement stations or jails and prison.

Courthouses, polling places, and any meetings of the governing body of a county, school district, municipality or special district are included in the list of excluded areas.

Schools, colleges, universities, or their administration buildings are also no-gun zones.

University of Florida Police Chief Linda Stump-Kurnick clarified in an email to students, faculty and staff that "the law did not change regarding where a person can and cannot carry a firearm. It also did not change regarding who can purchase or carry one."

Bars, the passenger terminals of airports, and any place you cannot carry a firearm under federal law, like post offices, are also off limits.

More details of exclusions and those people who are not eligible to conceal carry are here.
