GPD: False Threat Made Against Gainesville African American Churches

By

On Nov. 5, the Gainesville Police Department was informed of emails circulating around African American churches in Gainesville. The emails alleged a warning from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People that white supremacists were coming into the area to kidnap and hang Black men.

GPD communicated with the FBI and confirmed that the threats and emails were not authentic.

An identical email was circulated in Atlanta months ago. The NAACP has disavowed the threat.
