More Florida workers head to Alabama

More Progress Energy crewmen from around Florida are heading to Alabama to help restore utilities to the tornado stricken area. Progress Energy Florida Spokeswoman Suzanne Grant says 50 workers will join the 150 workers already on scene.

“They’ll be helping the local utility there, Southern Company, restore the power to the hundreds of thousands of customers that are still without power after this week’s deadly tornadoes. They’ll be dealing with snapped power poles, lines down and all sorts of damage due to the weather that ran through that area,” Grant said.

She says workers believe the job will take 7 to 10 days, but they will stay until power is restored.
