Natalie Asorey, UF CJC Class of 2013

Natalie Asorey earned her Bachelor of Science in public relations five years ago from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications — and this Cuban-American Gator grad has just made a full circle back to the Swamp.

She moved back to Gainesville from Miami and last month began a new phase of her career as a UF CJC professor.

Asorey is now teaching public relations writing and social media at her alma mater, where she also minored in communication studies as an undergraduate.

She was previously employed at Boden, a cross-cultural communication agency in Miami, where Asorey developed marketing and social-media strategies to reach the Hispanic consumer. She also oversaw Escucha, the company’s Hispanic social-media command center that was designed to review and better understand Hispanic social-media analytics.

“I found my purpose in helping brands — like McDonald's and UnitedHealthcare — communicate and connect with people like me and my abuelita,” said Asorey, who is bilingual in English and Spanish.

When it comes to Hispanic Heritage Month, Asorey thinks it should not be limited to one month. Asorey encourages the appreciation of the Hispanic-Latino culture every day of the year.

“The power of the multicultural U.S. inspires and drives me every day,” she said.
