A long line of pitched tents sat on the side of the ring. Thirteen college teams watched their teammates compete individually, as well as for the title of team champion.
On Saturday, Oct. 21, the University of Florida’s Hunt Seat team’s 2017-2018 season began at Kimberden barn in Ocala, Fla. UF hosted their show on Saturday, and the University of Central Florida’s show was held on Sunday, October 22.
The Florida colleges, and Savannah College of Art and Design from Georgia, competed in jumping and flatting. The teams are in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. Top riders from some of the colleges will go to regionals and nationals for IHSA.
With over 100 riders competing, each show lasted for over seven hours. When both days came to a close, SCAD, the current regional and national champion team, won the team champion title. UF’s team will be competing again this weekend at University of North Florida.
