UPDATE 2:55 p.m. —

A man is in custody and being treated for injuries after leading Marion County law enforcement on a chase through Ocala.

According to the Ocala Police Department, which assisted the Marion County Sheriff's Office Tuesday, deputies tried to arrest the man on aggravated battery charges from Lake County. Deputies tried to approach him in the parking lot of A&M Discount Beverage at 1898 NE 24th St., but he sped off, nearly missing a sheriff's office vehicle, an Ocala Police Facebook post said.

The man led law enforcement more than a mile down the road before running a red light, where two other cars hit his.

The intersection of NE 14th St. and NE 25th Ave. was blocked for a couple of hours Tuesday afternoon as law enforcement worked to clear the scene.

While the suspect is in the hospital, the other drivers involved in the wreck had non-life-threatening injuries, Ocala Police said.
