A 12-year-old girl died in Lake City after an unknown assailant opened fire into a residence on Northwest Long Street.
The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, leaving the local community in shock. Police are in pursuit of the shooter. The victim, a 12-year-old girl, sustained a gunshot wound.
Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. Lake City Police Department detectives are actively investigating the incident and are looking to the community for help regarding this case.
