WUFT’s Glenn Richards welcomes back Gainesville’s favorite wild animals, Bears and Lions, to talk about their new album ‘Navigate,’ their 4th appearance at Fanfares & Fireworks 2018 (7/3 at UF’s Flavet Field), & Saturday afternoon’s Bears & Lions Navigate CD Release Party!, 2:00 p.m. at First Magnitude Brewing Company in Gainesville.
From the Bears & Lions Press Release:
Bears and Lions are an independently managed band that made a splash at KindieFest in 2013, played for a world-wide audience on Sirius/XM in 2014, shook things up on PBS’s Pancake Mountain in 2015, and rocked the Gasparilla Music Festival in 2017, among many other wild performances. Their live show is a collective of animals, including a Gorilla, a Zebra, a Giraffe, a Moose, and a Bison, along with Bear and Lion, playing folk rock music that quickly engages kids and parents alike with their mix of theatrical storytelling and rocking music.
Lead members of the band have been professional musicians for years in the indie realm, including For Squirrels/Subrosa and Papercranes with Rain Phoenix. They’ve toured with Iggy Pop, Reverend Horton Heat, Five Eight, The Nixons, The Tea Party, Sevendust, Sponge, & Tonic and shared the stage with the likes of R.E.M., Mike Watt, Dead Confederate and Pylon. These animals know their stuff.
