Communities rely on local news anchors to deliver important and impactful information. We expect to see these journalists and their familiar faces at community events or, even, the grocery store. However, as the local television news business model changes, those “familiar” faces might live hundreds of miles away.

The Independent News Network is based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Newscasts created here are seen in various cities throughout the country. Jeff Lyle is a managing partner of INN’s parent company, Media Gateway. He says his company’s model can enhance a broadcast news outlet’s bottom line and it primed for future expansion, delivering “local” content from one mid-sized town in the deep South.
