Police Release New Video and Composite Sketch of Attack Suspect

By

The Gainesville Police and University of Florida Police departments released a new video and composite sketch of the suspect sought in connection with the three attacks since Aug. 30 on or near the University of Florida campus. Police describe the video depicting a man walking behind a parking lot in the Stadium Club complex and describe an incident where the man is seen picking up a parking cone and throwing at a vehicle on NW 1st Ave. According to police:

“The cone appears to hit a white vehicle traveling west just outside of the video frame. The suspect continues walking, then turns north onto NW 18th Street. Others around him are running due to the downpour, but he continues walking. Police are looking to speak with the driver or passengers of the vehicle that appear to have been struck with the road cone. The rest of the video has been previously released, but is now slightly enhanced.”

Today’s release also included the first composite sketch released in these cases, which police say is compiled from witnesses on the night of the first attack. Police say they are not certain if the man depicted is the suspect, but they would like to talk with him. There have been no new incidents connected with this string of attacks, nor have police officially said that the attacks were instigated by one individual. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact GPD detectives at 352-393-7658.
