About 10,000 additional Suwannee acres designated for recreational hunting

Hunting grounds

The Suwannee River Water Managment District has added nearly 10,000 acres for public hunting.

Bob Heeke, the district's senior land resources manager, said this additional land will be benificial for residents.

He said the process of looking for new land is nothing new. Eight tracts totaling 3,901 acres have been added in the District's Log Landing Wildlife Management Area located in Gilchrist and Dixie counties.

Deer, hog, turkey and small game hunting is available on these and other District lands from September to April.
