Legal experts say lawsuit against Governor Scott may fail

Time is winding down for Governor Rick Scott to reply to a lawsuit filed against him for declining federal stimulus money for the high speed rail. Scott is declining the money because he says it will negatively affect Florida taxpayers.

UF Law Professor Emeritus, Joseph Little, says there may be a glitch in the lawsuit filed against Scott by Melbourne Republican Thad Altman and Tampa Democrat Arthenia Joyner.

“The Florida Supreme Court may decide the two individuals suing Scott speaking by themselves don’t have standing. “ Little said. “They are not appropriate parties to bring action. So it could fail on those grounds.”

Scott had until noon today to reply to the lawsuit ordering him to accept the $2.4 billion dollars in funding.
