Man struck by train, in critical condition

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 25-year old Marion County man is in critical condition after a train hit his car Sunday.

Troopers say Jedrek Turner of Citra was driving on County Road 326 about 3 a.m. Sunday as he approached the railroad crossing.  Troopers say the lights were activated at the crossing, and the guard arms were lowered, but Turner drove around the gate and was hit by the oncoming CSX locomotive.

Turner was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown out of the car.  His 2001 Hyundai was demolished.

Troopers say the train had its horn activated as it approached the crossing, near NE 36th Avenue, north of Ocala.
