Áine Pennello
WUFT Morning Edition News AnchorÁine Pennello is a multimedia reporter and Morning Edition news anchor for the College’s Innovation News Center. She has a background in video news and documentary and most recently worked at WCBS Newsradio in New York City covering local news and the tri-state area. She has also reported internationally, freelancing from Paris and Berlin during the Syrian refugee crisis. During the Syrian Civil War, Pennello reported from the Golan Heights while on a reporting grant from the International Center for Journalists.
She has produced and reported for a variety of media companies, including The New York Times, Soledad O’Brien Productions, NBC News, ABC News Studios, Hulu, VICE, HBO Films and Netflix.
In 2016, she was nominated for GLAAD Media’s award for Outstanding Digital Journalism and this year was nominated for a Sundance Premier and Emmy award as part of the crew that produced the documentary “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields.”
Pennello has also been an adjunct professor at Fordham University and the Craig Newmark School of Journalism at CUNY. She is also a board member of the Society for Professional Journalism’s NYC chapter.

The Alachua County Library District has voted to permanently dissolve a committee designed to look into workplace and LGBTQ concerns. The committee was formed in August of last year in response to anonymous employee complaints, the committee was suspended on December 14th a few days before it was scheduled to have its first meeting.
