Florida Voices | Stella’s Story, One Special Pig

By , and

This is Florida Voices, a series of ordinary Floridians with extraordinary stories.

Out of 400 pigs, a couple of cows and a barn full of chickens, Stella was the special one.

After rescuing Stella, her first farm pig, Elaine West was inspired to share Stella’s story with others to promote compassion for all animals.

Today, West is the owner and president of Rooterville, a sanctuary for rescued, abused and abandoned pigs.

“If we didn’t help her then I don’t know what would have happened to her,” West said.  “If it wasn’t for her, Rooterville would have never happened.”
