County looking for more Koppers neighborhood testing

Alachua County commissioners are urging the US Environmental Protection Agency to step up testing for chemicals inside the homes around the Koppers Superfund site.  County Environmental Protection Director Chris Bird says they are concerned the chemical dioxin has mixed in to household dust.

He says they EPA has already decided a cleanup plan for the site, but the county hopes they will take this idea under consideration.  Commissioners have asked the EPA for this kind of testing before, but Bird says the agency is more likely to agree to testing this time around because it was more involved in drafting the methodology for the testing.
