Clay County Public Schools named its Teacher of the Year last week. Michelle Bily, a fourth-grade teacher has been at Lakeside Elementary for three years. She was selected from among 41 nominees—one from each school in the district.
Nicole Snyder, Coordinator of Communications and Media Partnerships for the district, said in a press release that Bily was nominated because she “works to build relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the community as a way to ensure student success.”
Robert Garcia, a custodian at Orange Park High School, won Clay County Public Schools School-Related Employee of the Year. Snyder served as an athletic coach and an ESE assistant before being a custodian.
Both Bily and Garcia will represent the county at the statewide competition.
“As a district, we look forward to cheering on both representatives in state competition. They have touched the lives of so many people who are grateful for their extraordinary service to Clay County Public Schools,” said Superintendent Addison Davis in a statement.
