Florida voters have until Monday, July 30, to change or update their party affiliations in order to vote in the August primaries.
The Florida primaries are closed, meaning voters can only vote for candidates of the same political party that they are registered, and those who are registered as independent or "No Party Affiliation" cannot vote in republican or democratic races.
Twenty-four percent of Alachua County voters and 23 percent of Marion County voters are not currently affiliated with the democratic or republican parties.
"There's no limit on how often somebody can change their party affiliation," said T.J. Pyche, the election office outreach director. "If they wanted to change it for the primary election only and then switch it back, they're welcome to."
Voters can update their registration at the supervisor of election's office or online.
For those who remain independent or NPA, judicial elections and Alachua County School Board elections are open to all voters.
