In contrast to the closure of all state parks, and despite a steady rise in Alachua County's number of COVID-19 cases, Sweetwater and a number of other city-owned parks have remained open so far. -
As of Tuesday, March 24, Alachua Country has 37 cases of COVID-19, and Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered gyms to close statewide to help slow the virus's spread. Some local gyms are attempting to use apps and websites to reach their members in order to keep themselves afloat. -
Vivie Thelin will represent Alachua County at the First Coast Regional Spelling Bee in Jacksonville on Feb. 27.
