By

Women and racial minorities are underrepresented in the U.S. Foreign Service. WUFT’s Report for America Corps Member Katie Hyson spoke with two African American women in the service – both with Florida ties – about why that is, why it matters, and how to change it. Listen above.

Levia Davis, a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, now serves in the U.S. Foreign Service as an information management specialist stationed in Sierra Leone. She says she would’ve applied to the service sooner if she had known it existed. (Courtesy Levia Davis)
