Marion County street artist shares his mantra on life and art: ‘Build bridges not kingdoms’

Marion County artist EJ “Nehs” Nieves began his art career as a young kid. Now it’s how he makes a living.

His vibrant and colorful murals are a creative outlet for him — and one he hopes leaves spectators more curious than before.

After facing homelessness for three months and coming out the other side, Nieves knew he had to make a change in his lifestyle and spending choices.

When he isn’t working on a mural, Nieves runs an art gallery, NEHS Galleries, that supports other local artists like himself.
