Director of Kofi Adu-Brempong Documentary Talks Racism, Police Militarization

It’s been almost five years since a University of Florida graduate student, Kofi Adu-Brempong, was shot by university police in his apartment as officers responded to an emergency call. A new documentary titled “In His Own Home” details the event and its aftermath.

Director Malini Johar Schueller spoke with WUFT about the film. Schueller said the March 2, 2010, shooting was viewed merely as a police mishandling.

The movie will be screened on Jan. 26 at Gainesville’s Civic Media Center.
