The Santa Fe College Art Gallery has rescheduled its reception for a Gainesville exhibit honoring the victims of the Orlando Pulse Shooting. Originally scheduled for Sept. 2, the reception has been moved to Friday, Sept. 16, after Santa Fe closed because of Tropical Storm Hermine.
It will start at 7 p.m. and will be in the gallery's room M-147.
The reception will feature “We Are All Undone By Each Other,” a solo exhibition by transgender artist Oliver Klicker that has been on display at the gallery since July.
A complete sensory experience, the show includes the smell of lavender, motion-activated drainage pipes, the calming sound of the ocean reclaiming salt from the bodies of those we lost and the warm presence of the surrounding earth. These elements come together to create a space for the viewer to grieve, heal and attempt to make sense of senseless tragedy, according to a press release.
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 3000 NW 83rd St. Gainesville, FL 326006.
