Santa Fe High School Student Arrested With Concealed Weapons

Alachua Police arrested and charged a Santa Fe High School student with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon on campus and one count of aggravated assault today.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. the school resource officer and staff approached Austin Cormican, 18, of Micanopy, Fla., who had multiple weapons in his backpack at the time, according to a release by the Alachua Police Department.

Cormican was carrying a "black tactical knife with a sheath, a large folding style knife, a common pocketknife and a set of brass knuckles."

According to the report, another Santa Fe High School student told the school resource officer about threats and threatening messages and images Cormican had made toward another student who does not attend Santa Fe during the holiday break.

Alachua Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 386-462-1396.
