The search committee for the president position of the University of Florida narrowed the field from 15 candidates to three on Monday morning.
Kent Fuchs, provost of Cornell University, David McLaughlin, provost of New York University and Sibrandes Poppema, president of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands were announced as top candidates.
The three candidates will be flown to Gainesville at the expense of the University. Public interviews, with Fuchs, McLaughlin and Poppema will begin at the UF Hilton Hotel Conference Center in the Century A room at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Once the interviews end, the search committee "will determine which candidates to recommend to the Board of Trustees as finalists" the University announced in a release sent to the UF community on Monday.
Faculty, students and members of the community will have the opportunity tomeet with finalists on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fuchs, McLaughlin and Poppema will be interviewed by the board on Wednesday before the 12th president-elect is announced.
