Charges become official in Florida hazing cases

Florida prosecutors have charged 13 people in connection with the hazing death of Florida A&M University band major Robert Champion. He died following an alleged beating aboard a band bus in a hazing ritual in November. Prosecutors say 11 people are charged with felony hazing, 13 with hazing and five with misdemeanor hazing. This news comes on the heels of another case of hazing, this time at the University of Florida.  In the UF case, 9 members of two fraternities, Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi, face misdemeanor hazing charges after they allegedly struck and paddled pledges. Florida's 89.1, WUFT-FM's Chip Skambis spoke with the author of 4 books on hazing and Associate Professor at Franklin College in Indiana, Hank Nuwer, about these cases specifically, and how hazing has evolved within the university system.
